ON THIS VARIETY STAMP A PRINTING SHIFT HAS OCCURRED SO THAT THE HAIR OF MERRITT IS NOW TOUCHING THE BARN OF THE BACKGROUND PICTURE. THIS ERROR IS ON SCOTT 655 THE EIGHT CENT STAMP HONORING WILLIAM MERRITT AND THE WELLAND CANAL. IT WAS ISSUED ON NOVEMBER 29, 1974. THE STAMP IS USED AND IS IN NICE CONDITION.
